1902 Turnpike House offers 7 individually decorated, comfortable
rooms featuring private baths, cable TV, down comforters and more.
Most rooms are designed for 2 guests. Some rooms can accommodate up
to 5 people for an additional charge.
All
rates include an unforgettable breakfast each morning for each
of our valued guests. Expect beautiful, hot, homemade entrees,
fragrant fresh bread, and savory breakfast meats, plus fresh
fruit and a choice of a beverages, served on sparkling china and
crystal with candlelight and soft back ground music. Wake up to
a memorable, peaceful and delicious experience each morning.
Rates below are all double occupancy. For rooms that
accommodate more than 2, please add $20 per night per additional

Beech Mountain Room |
 Our
largest, and one of our most beautiful rooms, has its own private
ground floor entrance, and is handicapped accessible. Often also
selected by guests celebrating an anniversary or birthday,
prospective bridegrooms anticipating an engagement during their
stay, or newlywed honeymooners.
Thoughtfully appointed comfortable room with queen bed and queen
hide-a-bed. Large seating area with private bath and spa tub,
remote cable TV.

Sugar
Mountain Room |
 Named after our nearby ski
and golf resort. Designed with small families with 1 or 2 children
(age 8 and up) in mind, this cozy cheerful room is also great
for couples who desire roomy seating/reading areas, plus a
whirlpool Jacuzzi tub for two with shower. Primary sleeping area
is a queen size bed. Secondary sleeping area is a full bed size,
extra thick futon which doubles as a couch during the day, with
a twin-sized bunk above. Private ground floor
entrance off private deck area.

Thomas Lowe Room |
 Named
after Banner Elk's first lawyer and
newlywed builder of the
original estate in 1902, you'll enjoy the sophisticated,
jewel colors and library motif of this
large, quiet 2nd floor room. Overlooks gardens, a peaceful meadow and mountains beyond.
Queen-size four-poster bed, wing-back chairs with antique
tilt-top table. Private attached bath with shower and
original pedestal tub, remote cable TV.

Bettie Banner Room |
 Bettie
Banner was a member of the original founding family of Banner
Elk, and became the bride of Thomas Lowe, Banner Elk's first lawyer,
who built this home in 1902 for his new wife. Home for the Lowes
all of their married life,
and then home home for life for their only child, Fairie Belle, the
house remained in the Lowe family for eighty years, before
becoming a Bed and Breakfast.
Large 2nd floor room with a soft and
cheerful color theme, Ralph Lauren chintz comforter and curtains
and a view of Beech Mountain. Queen-size bed, comfortable
seating area, private attached bath with shower, remote cable TV.

Fairie Belle Lowe Room |
 Charming,
serene 2nd floor room featuring a full sized bed and a twin bed
that serves as a comfortable daybed for reading and relaxing
during daylight hours, this room is named for the Lowe's
daughter, Fairie Belle, because she used it as her sewing room
during her lifetime here. Featuring the original
beadboard woodwork and original leaded glass dormer windows,
this room is perfect for travelers who require separate sleeping
areas, couples with one child (age 8 or older), or couples
seeking especially economical accommodations.

James Shomaker Room |
 Named
after Banner Elk's first banker, who became Fairie Belle's first
and only husband shortly after her 62nd birthday, this 1st floor
room features a queen sized bed and private bath with shower. A
smaller, yet very attractive and comfortable room, it is popular
choice for guests who are traveling alone, or couples who are
looking for more economical accommodations than our larger rooms
with larger seating/reading areas.

The
Loft |
 Featuring
2 extra-long twin beds and a large seating area, our spacious
loft has room for airbeds to accommodate up to 5 guests
on the finished 3rd of
our home. Because it has no private bath, it is available only
to parties who reserve at least one other room in the house. We
usually make it available to parents traveling with older
children (age 10 and up), so that the children have a space of
their own in
the Loft on the 3rd floor, and parents have privacy in a room of
their own on the 1st or 2nd floors. Children staying in a the
loft share their parents' bath. Add $20 per night per child
staying in the Loft to the price of their parents' room. |
